Aretéanism

The Assemblage of Areté promotes:

(…) a new, humanist religion focused on developing personal and communal areté (ahr-uh-tay), or human greatness.

While we encourage skepticism of religions, we define the word ‘religion’ to mean a cohesive set of philosophies and rituals, requiring active participation; and Aretéanism is exactly that.  Unlike many religions however, Aretéanism specifically rejects superstition and instead considers science to be the best source of information about both the natural world and about how we should live our lives.

We trust in the human capacity for reason, and believe we should seek greater understanding as we journey towards being people of Areté.
