I think if most Christians are honest about it, I think they’ll admit that they’re just pretty much picking and choosing what they will believe and what they won’t. I think that the more people become comfortable culturally identifying with their religions and realizing that they don’t have to pretend to believe things that are simply intellectually insulting today – that they can still have their ethics, their symbols, that they can use this metaphorically to contextualize their lives – I think we’ll find a lot of people identifying nontheistically with their religions.
I think we’re just a little bit ahead of the game.
